Woodburn Press is committed to protecting the privacy and security of its online visitors. This policy statement provides our visitors (e.g., teachers, children and parents) with an overview of the measures we have taken to provide a safe online environment. PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
We will collect no more personally identifiable information than is reasonably necessary for students to participate in an online activity. Unless we indicate otherwise, personally identifiable information collected from students will be used solely by Woodburn Press in the processes of managing their engagement.
FOR TEACHERS
Teachers must provide personally identifiable information to use the site. In addition, personal information provided by teachers may be disclosed to colleagues using the Web application.
FOR STUDENTS
When you register for your online account to This Way to Good Grades, we ask for only as much information as is necessary for your teachers to identify you in This Way to Good Grades. For students over the age of 13, this includes your first name and last name. In accordance with COPPA, we only request first and last initial for students under the age of 13. During the registration process, you are also asked to create a user name and password. You should not use any personally identifiable information as your username (for example, do not use your full name). Teachers will use students’ registration information to identify his or her students in the This Way to Good Grades.
FOR ALL REGISTERED USERS
All personally identifiable information collected by us is only used to provide services related to This Way to Good Grades. We do not share your personally identifiable information with any third parties for marketing purposes. In the event that substantially all of the assets related to the Woodburn Press website were transferred or sold to another entity, all information, including personally identifiable information would be transferred to that entity. We may also disclose personally identifiable information to third parties in order to comply with court orders or with requests by law enforcement agencies, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our website and other users of the website.
NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
We collect non-personally identifiable information through our visitors’ voluntary submissions to us and/or upon our request. By non-personally identifiable information, we are referring to information about our visitors’ browsers (e.g., Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer), operating systems (e.g., Windows or Macintosh), Internet service providers (e.g., AOL or NET.COM) and other similar information which we track in aggregate form. The non-personally identifiable information that we track is anonymous and will never be identified with or lead us back to any of our visitors.
USE OF IP ADDRESSES
We collect IP addresses to obtain aggregate information on the use of Woodburn Press. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by a Web server when you’re on the Web. When you are on our site, we have a back-end server that logs your computer’s IP address. Only upon registering or logging into This Way to Good Grades, do we temporarily log your IP address. All other times, we only use the information we find out from tracking IP addresses in the aggregate, such as how many users entered a specific area of our site. However, we may use such information to identify a user if we feel that there are or may be safety and/or security issues or to comply with legal requirements.
SECURITY
Woodburn Press uses external web hosting and development services from reputable companies. Hosting companies are chosen based upon their ability to provide safe, secure and consistent web hosting services. Woodburn Press relies upon the web hosting company’s policies and procedures to protect personal information and to provide security to the sites data.
