UPS – High Tech Training Techniques
UPS, the world's largest package-delivery company, is expected to hire 25,000 new drivers over the next 5 years to replace a large number of retiring Baby Boomers. To train these new recruits, UPS has developed a variety of new training tools. Behind the wheel of a virtual UPS delivery truck, drivers identify and avoid obstacles, such as kids suddenly darting into the street, or parked cars. Drivers must be able to park a truck and retrieve one package in 15.5 seconds, and they are trained on a "slip and fall machine" that simulates walking when conditions are icy or wet.  Wall Street Journal
