About Us

Our Mission

Since 1996, our mission has been to provide educators with practical, engaging, affordable resources that help students succeed and promote parent involvement.

Our History

Linda O’Brien was a school counselor for over 20 years, with a caseload of over 400 students. As a high school counselor, she often had student conferences scheduled every 10-15 minutes—not nearly enough time to talk to struggling students about how they could bring up their grades, or whether or not a student should go to college. She wanted something simple and straightforward she could give to her students that would speak to their problem or concern.

Not finding anything that fit the bill, she started writing her own 30-page booklets to give to her students and parents. Wondering if any other counselors would be interested in using these booklets, she printed up some extra copies and sent them out to counselors. In two months she had orders for more than 25,000 books—and Woodburn Press was born. Today, Woodburn Press booklets, workbooks, pamphlets, posters, displays, and student planners can be found in thousands of elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and colleges across the U.S. and Canada.

Our Future

As we grow as a company, we promise to continue to listen to our customers, to provide materials that are relevant and up-to-date, and to look for ways to expand both our print and digital offerings. Although a lot has changed over the years, our goal remains the same as it was in 1996—to provide educators with concise, affordable resources that inform, engage, and inspire students and parents.
